Government must stop making speeches after they are elected. we will stitch a uniform for them, purchase sets of hand-gloves, helmets and discourage them from using tinted glassed vehicles. In that way, they will know that we elected them to work and not make empty speeches and promises. This beautiful damsel died because, you do not have the facilities in the hospitals. In 2010, my driver died after about an hour of profuse bleeding with no ambulance near anywhere in Ahor expressway, Benin City. We waited until FRSCN came with their van to convey the dead bodies, and few survivors to UBTH. On getting their, i saw a crowded emergency ward suggesting that, on that fateful day, December 12, 2010, many others were involved in ghastly motor accidents. I went back to the site of the fatal accident, and saw peace mass transit buses parked to commiserate with their driver who drove the ill-fated bus. An officer of the federal road safety had called to inform me that i should go get my bag and that of my driver before they are searched by hoodlums who stormed the scene immediately after the incident. Could you imagine that they were asking me to drop something for them? Despite the corpse and pool of blood forming puddles on the road, they insisted that i must settle them. Then i asked, ‘ As who or for what?’ Meanwhile, still in shock and tears, i left there with anger and frustration at the “shocking guts” of those young men in the face of tragedy. When i got back to UBTH, i asked the doctors how my driver and the others are faring. The doctors pointed to the mortuary. I asked, ” Are they being treated there?” He looked at me, walked towards me and hugged me saying, ” they could not make it. We care but God cures.” My dear friends, our doctors are efficient, but the facilities are inefficient and in that case, there is nothing they can do. The emergency wards of many hospitals are ” really an emergency in itself.” If you get there, just pray and pray, and pray and praise. Finally, dear AKABUIKE, i know you are gone. I went memory-lane because i need to tell Nigerians that our government and owners of companies in this Country have done us more harm than good. No good rapid response medical team, no efficient medical facilities, the roads are scary, the bumps that you would have to experience are enough to make a pregnant mother deliver, and the drivers are in a haste to ” turn every liter of fuel bought into millions.” It is the “will of God”, that is what you will tell me. When will it be the ” will of Government” to put infrastructures in place??? So sad! adieu Akabuike, ada mara nma.

May the souls of the dead rest in peace! THIS IS A WAKE UP CALL TO ALL TRANSPORT COMPANIES, In such unpleasant cases as this it will be the usual manner of blaming the government for not fixing or repairing bad roads but i want this company to get all drivers to undergo some mental check up before embarking on any journey. If this drivers have any value for their lives and the passengers in the bus then, they will always drive with care no matter how bad the road may be.

  9. R.I.P…she would have been saved if we had adequate medical facilities in the country!

Our poor attitude towards maintaining public infrastructure has reaped another soul. RIP and may God run the lives of our politicians in the same manner that they govern this country.
