Today Makes it 5years since Sam Loco Efe died apparently sitting on his seat in a hotel room of causes nowsuspected to be asthma.

He was found dead on a Sunday morning 7th of August 2011 with ventolin inhalers beside him in the hotel room where he lodged. The room was forced open after he failed to come down after retiring the previous night.

Contrary to reports that he was on location in Owerri, Imo State, Vanguard learnt, that he was actually in Owerri editing a yet untitled film produced by Bayelsa State born Favour Ogosi. Former Vice President, Actors Guild of Nigeria (South -East) and a close confidant of the deceased, Mr Steve Eboh, told Vanguard the events that led to the actor’s death.

He said: “On the night before his demise, he had, as usual, exchanged banter and jokes with friends and colleagues till about 11p.m. before retiring to his room. “But the next morning when he didn’t come down for breakfast, worried colleagues went knocking on his door. Of course, they knew he was inside. And when no response came, they called me. I then advised that the hotel contact the police. And when the room was eventually opened, the cold body of Sam was found on a seat in the room. “And on the table and the floor, the police were alleged to have found a cannister or two of ventolin inhalers.”

Unfulfilled Dream Efe died without fulfilling the dream of taking a deserved rest at his Abakaliki, Ebonyi State farm house, Eboh said yesterday. “Because I was nominated for the City People Awards and couldn’t go to see him in Owerri, he told me he would first stop over at Yenagoa and on today travel to his farm in Abakaliki, Ebonyi to wait for me. He said he was going to the farm house to rest and take a break from the rigours of film shooting and editing. That never happened because he died the next morning.”

The then President Goodluck Jonathan described the late actor as an accomplished artiste whose works helped to raise the dignity and style of the industry. Fashola on his part praised him for his unwavering commitment to his chosen profession despite the challenges he met.

President Jonathan’s condolence was conveyed through a press statement by Dr Reuben Abati, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity. Gov. Fashola in his condolence message signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Akeem Bello, to the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr. Segun Arinze, described the deceased as an extraordinarily gifted thespian whose mastery of his craft on both stage and screen was unrivalled.
May His Soul Continue to Rest in Peace Amen.

  2. What makes you think that I am ignorant? As you call me. What makes you think am a sinner? So you are the righteous one and I will go to hell right? Is this how that are saved quickly passed their judgement? I only pointed out that we had no business with the dead and where he is will be going then, and I still stand by it. You said and I quote “instead of talking where he will go from here after death and spend his eternity (judgment day), this only implies for the livings not the dead.
While we sympathize with those who have lost their lives or dear ones, we must bear in mind that “now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2). While the context refers to the gospel age as a whole, the verse is fitting for any individual who is unprepared to face the inevitable—death and the judgment that follows (Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:26; Hebrews 9:27). Death is final, and after that, no amount of praying will avail a person of the salvation he has rejected in life.
So there is a lot of works to do for living sinners, let’s forget the dead and their deeds for now. God bless you.,.

  3. Shuttaphukup! ! U must have failed reading and comprehension. You failed a simple instruction on the post.
All you were asked to do is show some gratitude for the God gift of laughter and happiness that this man brought many many people on this earth, but all you could come with is judgemental nonsense about where he is going…smh
What is your worth to the world..? When you die tomorrow who will sing your praises ..?
Do you know where he is going or will God be looking for your prayers to judge his final resting if at all there is anywhere he is suppose to go..?
Learn to focus on your earth, where you are and not where you are going. When you do well, do all thing the right way, like giving respect and gratitude when necessary for God bless on earth, then your destination will be taking care .
