Harry Song is one of those celebrities who flaunt their wealth on social media. From cash, to outfits, to his recently acquired hummer jeep. In case you live under a rock and you don’t know who he is, Harrysong (real name Harrison Tare Okiri) is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and instrumentalist. To be fair to him, he came from pretty humble beginnings. Prior to signing to QuestionMark Entertainment, Harrysong used to perform at night clubs. He would have had nowhere near this sort of wealth back then! But he rose to fame after his tribute song to Nelson Mandela won the “Most Downloaded Callertune Award” at The Headies 2013. Then, in 2014, he was nominated in the “Best Pop/R&B Artist of the Year” category at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards after the release of his chart-topping song “Beta Pikin”. This explains where all of his wealth comes from. He explained his reason for flaunting it to Nigerian Tribune:
I displayed the money I was paid for a show where I only performed for five minutes. It was one of the many good things God did for me last year. I am grateful to Him. I think it is a personal thing for me. If I flaunt my wealth on social media, I do it because I have got what to flaunt. I am not saying those who don’t display it don’t have. Sometimes you just want to appreciate God for what He has done for you and to encourage your fans, especially those who are going through some hard times that there is more to life to than what they are currently passing through.”
Some people will doubt his reasons above. Perhaps at least part of the reason he flaunts so much on social media is to try and increase his number of followers?
