Police Arrest Woman For Selling New Born Baby Boy For N70,000

After carrying her baby for 9 months, a mother decided to sell the new born. A 20-year-old woman, Chinwendu Agbo, has been arrested by the Enugu State Police Command, for allegedly selling her new born baby boy to a woman identified as Ngozi Eze, for N70,000.

Agbo, who hails from Ehalumona autonomous community in the state, was said to have put to bed on August 6 and latersold the child to the woman because she ‘could not take care of him.’

Agbo was nabbed when a relative who saw when she was pregnant, became curious when the new born was no longer seen with her, and the police was informed.

She was arrested and during interrogation, she confessed that she had sold the child to Eze.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident, disclosing that the command had commenced investigation into the matter.

“The Enugu State command of the Nigeria Police has commenced investigation into the alleged incident of child trafficking at Obolo Afor in Udenu local government area of the state.

The suspect, Chinwendu Agbo of Ehalumona residing at Obolloafor Lodge and about 20 years was said to have sold her new born baby boy which she gave birth to on 6/8/15 at the sum of N70,0000 to a woman at Umuabor Ehalumona but living in Enugu.

A full scale investigations have commenced as suspects are helping the police in their investigations.”
