Residents of Oni and Sons area of Ring Road, Ibadan have warned that the mansion of late Super Eagles hit man, Rashidi Yekini ,may become the den of robbers and kidnappers if nothing is done about the edifice which has remained unoccupied three years after the demise of the soccer legend.
Information gathered that the residents had written to police authorities alerting them of the danger of leaving the place desolate.
Lawyer to the late footballer, Barrister Jubril Muhammed, had however assured that the property would not be allowed to become the hide out of hoodlums as efforts were being made to put it into good use.
A competent source in the area said that the residents who are not comfortable with the state of the Yekini property wrote the DPO of Oluyole Division urging him to ensure his men keep a close tab on the edifice.
“The residents are leaving in fear. Their worry is that kidnappers and other hoodlums may convert the property into their fortress and use it to commit heinous crime. They had written the police to ensure they keep an eye on the place.
Three years after Yekini’s demise the place had remained unoccupied and weed had taken over the entire compound,” our source disclosed.
When contacted, Barrister Muhammed said he was not unmindful of the state of the property, even as he assured that it will soon be put into use.
“I m working on the documents we need to put together before putting the property into use. We wont allow hoodlums to take it over,” Muhammed stated.
He pointed out that the late soccer legend left behind two daughters, who would be direct beneficiaries of their late father’s wealth.
