Hongxing Steel Company, a Chinese-owned manufacturing firm in Lagos has been shut down following reports of human right abuse and recurring accidental deaths and injuries.
Few months ago, 2 workers died in the company due to harsh working condition.
Nigerians hired to work as casual workers at the company accused their Chinese bosses of maltreatment and constant harassment.
Lagos-based human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, had also promised to petition the National Human Rights Commission and the Ministry of Labour to ensure measures were taken against the company.
Yesterday, Lagos State Government ordered the closure of the company until proper safety standard is put in place.

Thank God for Governor Ambode, he is trully a man of honour and a man of the people. God bless u for closing down the company. As for these useless Chinese people, it’s not ur fault to maltreat our people, but it’s the fault of our government who careless about the masses and their welfare. All i know is, a day shall come when the youths of this great nation shall revolt.
