The Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola has reportedly said that President Goodluck Jonathan should be held responsible for the deaths of four people during a robbery incident in the state yesterday, March 12.
The bank robbery, carried out by men in army fatigues, occurred near the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge at about 5pm.
Fashola stated that Jonathan’s presence in the state led to a drastic reduction in the number of policemen available to counter the robbers during the operation, YNaija reports.
“Because Jonathan was coming to Lagos, all the vehicles and police in Lagos were sent to be on standby for him, and there was no available not enough (sic) to stop the robbery at Ikoyi-Lekki link bridge,” the governor reportedly said during an All Progressives Congress (APC) programme titled ‘An Evening For Nigeria’ which held yesterday at the Intercontinental hotel in Victoria Island.
The President was in Lagos to attend a conference at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).
Fashola has in recent times criticized Jonathan for his suddenly frequent visits to Lagos terming them hypocritical.
