in a civilized society policemen has no right to shot an unharmed person even if Na thief e b, if they were threaten by the boy they have the right to arrest him for threatening a police officer or even for assault and the person will go jail for it. I wonder y some people in the 21st century are siding the actions of those policemen. for crying out loud, they went to training, the guy was unharmed and even if the guy slapped the policeman the only thing he would have done was arrest him and charge him with assault and make sure the law take its course. that policeman who fire that shot should be charged wit attempted murder. it’s because we over look all this things that make it continue if the Nigerian Police Force use one citizen or 1 policeman to show example that nobody is above the law all this nonsense will stop. This case has to be thoroughly investigated. The Nigeria police is suppose to protect lives and properties. There are ways to tarcle such pre-riots without using life bullets. Is there no provisions for rubber bullets, riot shields, battons and smoke screens? We are all Nigerian, lets stop this non chalant attitude and police brutality. I am very sure that if that same policeman goes oversea with the same scenero he wouldn’t shoot. The casuality in question was unharmed and there are combant tartics to bring him down without administering life bullets. My people our police men are getting worse every day. I had an experience sometime ago. Then I just got married and my wife was heavy and about to put to bed. I travelled out and came back to be with her during the delivery period. I was the one going to the market to buy things for cooking and all sort. One faithful day I went to buy some things for cooking and I stopped to change a $50 dollars that was with me from those mallam. Un-noticed to me was some group of police men in a danfo on mufti patrolling. After changing the money and I entered a bus to cele to buy the items not knowing that the police people followed me. As I get down at cele the next that happened to me was a very big sound slap on my neck from back and I fell on the ground. They hijacked me up and throw me inside their van. At that moment all sorts of thinking was flashing inside me. Since they wasn’t on uniform I was thinking could they be armed robbers or kidnappers, until they took me to Okota police station then I realized they are police. On getting down they asked me who am I and I told them they asked me what is in my pocket I told them its money I want to use to buy food items,they asked me how much and I told them its #7,000 naira then dollar was 140. Immediately one of them said ah na fifty dollar he go change. That time it was dawned on me that they was around monitoring me and looking out for a prey. They told me to give them 3,000 naira or I sleep in the cell, but I pleaded with them bearing in my the condition of my newly wedded wife. And finally I had to part with #2,000 naira. These our police are armed robbers on uniform. They can do anything. That experience and the other one I had with them made me to hate them with everything in me
