Not many many men have the courage to go through this kinda scenario which is why this man’s courage and devotion should be saluted!

37 year old Lee Chester, made the brave decision after his three-year-old daughter Esme’s kidneys suddenly failed and she suffered a stroke.

Now, he and the little girl are recovering in separate hospitals, where they are both doing ‘really well‘, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Speaking from his hospital bed, Lee said:

“We are both doing really well. I’m so glad it’s gone well for Esme. She’s eating mashed potato in bed.

“I’m quite sore so I’ll have to milk it at home for a bit. It really does show the importance of opting in for organ donation. It really does save lives.

On donating his own kidney, he added:

”This is something that any parent would do, you just say yes, it’s in the terms.

Doctors have not been able to diagnose what caused Esme’s kidneys to suddenly fail in June last year or why she suffered a potentially-deadly stroke on Christmas Eve morning.

  5. Educate yourselves before you comment:
The transplanted kidney is not placed at the site of the original kidneys but is placed in the lower belly. A child can receive an adult kidney, since by a certain age (usually older than 2 years) there is enough space in the belly to fit the new kidney. These donors are usually family or friends of the child.

  7. I’m not arguing the fact that it’s not possible in this our 21st century technology has immensely improve so anything is possible medically with money. Most kidney transplant failed after some time or years due to the donor previous health conditions. Lovely Dad you should have make more enquiry about the age difference kidney donor, disadvantage and what mostly happen probably after .God knows the best.
